Uncharted with Ray Goggins returns for a second series, premiering May 13 at 9:35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player. Fronted by adventurer and former special forces soldier Ray Goggins, the series takes well-known Irish faces out of their comfort zones and into some of the most remote and unforgiving environments on Earth.
Each week, Ray leads a new pairing on a physically and mentally demanding expedition designed to test their limits and ignite personal growth. The experience is more than just an adrenaline rush. Bonds are forged, stories are shared and vulnerabilities surface, as Ray guides them through a transformative wilderness challenge, they’ll never forget.
In episode one, Comedian PJ Gallagher joins actor Liam Cunningham for a high-altitude motorbike expedition through the Himalayas. Traversing the perilous roads of Upper Mustang, the trio face loose gravel, sheer drops and dizzying heights.
Episode two sees Olympian Ciara Mageean join Dublin football star Michael Darragh MacAuley for an epic coast-to-coast endurance challenge across Costa Rica. Covering over 250 kilometres from the Pacific to the Caribbean, the trio cycle, run, kayak, and trek through dense rainforest and rugged terrain.
Broadcaster Angela Scanlon teams up with comedian Kyla Cobbler in episode 3 to tackle the towering High Atlas Mountains. Battling sheer limestone cliffs, extreme weather and a shared fear of heights, the duo face one of North Africa’s most demanding climbing environments.
In the final episode singer Keith Duffy and actor Jay Duffy, embark on a demanding father-son expedition in Uganda’s Rwenzori Mountains. Attempting to summit one of Africa’s highest and least climbed peaks at 5,109 metres, they face a gruelling seven-day ascent through bog, rainforest, and alpine terrain.
Speaking about the new series, Ray Goggins said, “It’s great to be back for another season of Uncharted. We’ve met a whole new group of fascinating people and hearing their stories against the backdrop of some of the world’s toughest terrain was eye-opening. We were pushed to our limits, but it really does teach you a lot about yourself.”
Uncharted with Ray Goggins airs Wednesday, May 13 on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
