The Lab is a production unit within RT\u00c9 that produces and commissions original video content for the 18-44 audience on RT\u00c9 Player. Some of the Comedy series produced and commissioned by The Lab include Good Boy<\/a><\/em>, Darren & Joe\u2019s Free Gaff<\/a><\/em> and The Doireann Project<\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’ve also produced series like The Traitors Ireland: Uncloaked<\/a><\/em>, Ireland’s Perfect Pubs<\/a> <\/em>and Timeless Thrifts<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do We Want in 2026?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For 2026, The Lab will be partnering with our colleagues in RT\u00c9 Comedy to exclusively<\/em> focus on commissioning development-led short form comedy aimed at upcoming writers, performers and directors alongside emerging indies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comedy has a proven track record of performing well on RT\u00c9 Player and we\u2019re looking for a new short-form series to complement RT\u00c9 Comedy\u2019s offerings in this genre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this in mind, we aim to commission two 6 x 15\u201d short form Player-first series, alongside other additional development opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Themes We’re Looking For:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We want a comedy show that is original, funny but can speak to everyone: strong ensembles, brilliant comic voices, and stories that can keep audiences coming back for more. The show should feel at home on RT\u00c9 Player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
