Over 1.1 million tune-in to RTÉ2 as Dublin make history in All Ireland Football Final replay
A peak audience of 1,123,300 were watching the All Ireland Football Final replay on the Saturday Game Live on RTÉ2 as the Dubs closed-in on a historic 5-in-a-row All Ireland titles.
An average of 966,600 viewers tuned-in for the game, a share of 72.3% of those watching TV at the time. Additionally there were a total of 140,808 streams on RTÉ Player.
The figures come on the back of an increase across the board on RTÉ in 2019 with Dublin’s clash with Mayo in the semi-final on Saturday 10 August watched by 697,000 viewers on RTÉ2, yielding a 63% share of viewing. That was 244,000 more than watched last year’s semi-final game between Dublin and Galway, which commanded a 47% share.
In this year’s other semi-final, 546,000 Individuals watched Kerry overcome Tyrone, a 22% increase on 2018’s semi-final meeting between Monaghan and Tyrone (449,000). Average viewing for all games in the Super 8s shown on RTÉ this year was 344,000 compared to 303,000 in 2018.
The 17 hurling championship matches in 2019 shown on RTÉ television commanded an average share of 46.9%, up from 45.6% in 2018. Furthermore, interest in Camogie has grown year-on-year, with the All Ireland quarter-finals registering an 11% increase in average thousands, while the semi-finals grew by 18%.
