As the saying goes “it takes a village to raise a child”. An average of 363,000 (33.8%) viewers watched the programme each Sunday evening as two tight knit Irish rural communities helped a pair of city teens get their lives back on track. The nation fell in love with Warren, Jordan, Carly, Adam, Alfie, Amber, Melita and Jamie Lee as they watch them swap their city centre homes to country living. The teenagers were embraced by families in Ballintubber County Roscommon, Ballinamore County Leitrim, Clonaslee County Laois, Ballintra and Moville in County Donegal.
Raised by the Village told the story of two city families who needed help with parenting and took drastic steps to get it. In a last ditch attempt to rein in their rebellious kids, they moved their troublesome teens to the heart of the countryside and allowed them to be raised by the village.
Under the guidance of one of Ireland’s top child psychotherapists, Stella O’Malley, the problem pair received a dose of teenage life Irish village style and viewers got to watch them turn their attitude in their lives do a complete 180.
