RTÉ COVERAGE OF THE STATE FUNERAL OF FORMER TAOISEACH, JOHN BRUTON
RTÉ will broadcast live coverage on television, radio and online of the State Funeral of former Taoiseach, John Bruton.
On Friday 9th February Mr Bruton’s remains will be brought to Ss Peter and Paul’s Church, Dunboyne, Co. Meath. The removal service at 7.00pm will be broadcast live on the RTÉ News channel.
On Saturday 10th February, David McCullagh will present special television coverage of the State Funeral, starting at 10.40am on RTÉ One. Aine Lawlor and John Bowman will provide commentary on the Funeral Mass of the former Taoiseach in Ss Peter and Paul’s Church, Dunboyne. The President, Michael D Higgins, An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar TD and other dignitaries will be in attendance. Coverage of the Funeral Mass with Irish Sign Language (ISL) by interpreters Lorraine Leeson and Margaret Woulfe will broadcast live on RTÉ News Channel and RTÉ Player.
Later the funeral cortege will proceed to Rooske Cemetery in Dunboyne, where Mr Bruton will be laid to rest and buried with full military honours. Katie Hannon and Eoghan Ó Neachtain will provide commentary from the cemetery.
On RTÉ Radio 1, Colm Ó Mongáin will present a special programme from 10.50am featuring coverage of the funeral mass and burial, with Philip Boucher-Hayes and Cuan Ó Seireadáin providing commentary.
Television and radio coverage will both be streamed live on the RTÉ News and RTÉ Radio Apps, RTÉ Player and RTÉ.ie, available to audiences worldwide, with updates on the RTÉ News app.
