The Real Carrie Jade | Soundtrack released as stand alone original album
The soundtrack to the hugely successful podcast series The Real Carrie Jade has just been released as a stand-alone original album. Following on from soundtrack releases to the series Finding Samantha (2023) and Runaway Joe (2024), this is the third such album release from RTÉ Documentary On One who continue to commission new music for each podcast series they produce.
Released across all major music platforms, these soundtracks are available to listen, or purchase, from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, Tidal, YouTube and all other online music providers.
The composer behind The Real Carrie Jade soundtrack is Fergal O’Connor, a singer, songwriter, guitarist and composer originally from Mallow in Co, Cork, now based near Ardmore in West Waterford. Fergal has composed music for video theatre, dance, TV and released an album of original songs called Light Breaks Through – but The Real Carrie Jade was the first podcast series he’s scored.
Commentating on the release of this third album from RTÉ Documentary On One, series producer Liam O’Brien said “Fergal did a super job in composing this soundtrack. The Real Carrie Jade is a complex and sensitive story and working together with producer Ronan Kelly, Fergal’s soundtrack underpinned the tension, drama and emotion within the series – and brought it to another level. Recognising these albums as pieces of art within and of themselves is important for us all as we continue to build up a collection of standalone music albums from our podcast series.”
Fergal not only composed the soundtrack, but also played guitar and the Ronrocco (a little known South American instrument) with Tony Flaherty on piano. RTÉ sound engineer Ruth Kennington engineered, mixed and mastered the music for both the podcast series itself, and for this soundtrack album release of The Real Carrie Jade.
RTÉ Documentary On One already has two further soundtracks/album releases commissioned into 2025 with Icelandic composer Úlfur Eldjárn currently working on a soundtrack for an upcoming podcast series due for release in early 2025. And an Oscar winning composer is also working on a new soundtrack which will be performed by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra to accompany another new podcast series due for release from RTÉ Documentary On One in 2025.
