Actor and Mrs. Brown’s Boys star Danny O’Carroll is the second celebrity to join Dancing with the Stars 2025
Actor and producer Danny O’Carroll, best known for portraying Buster Brady on stage and on screen in Mrs. Brown’s Boys, is the second celebrity to join the cast of Dancing with the Stars. The eighth series returns to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player in January 2025.
Danny’s Mrs. Brown’s Boys castmates have a long-standing relationship with Dancing with the Stars. His castmate and aunt, Eilish O’Carroll took part in 2019, while Rory Cowan competed for the coveted glitterball earlier this year. He has also appeared in the Mrs. Brown’s Boys spin-off series, All Round to Mrs. Brown’s and For Facts Sake, and is currently on a nationwide tour of Ireland with Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Live Show.
Danny commented: “I’ve wanted to do Dancing with the Stars for the last four years, but I have always been touring the UK with Mrs. Brown’s Boys in January, so it just wasn’t possible. But this year, we’re touring in Ireland for the first time in over twelve years, and I can commute to get the rehearsals in so it’s working out really well. I’m delighted to finally be able to do it!
On the encouragement from Mrs. Brown’s Boys cast members: “I’m really taken aback at how much everybody has been behind me. My aunt Eilish is begging me to go as far as I can for her. I want to do the best I can. I’m not a dancer, so I’m well out of my comfort zone, but I’m going to try to do whatever I can to get to the final…I’m going to give it socks!”
Danny is the second celebrity to be announced following yesterday’s reveal of Irish model and former Miss Universe Ireland, Aishah Akorede as the first celebrity taking to the dancefloor in January. The nine remaining celebrity contestants joining the new series of Dancing with the Stars will be announced throughout the rest of this week.
The glitz, glamour, and nail-biting competition will all unfold when the new season returns to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player next month.
Dancing with the Stars will be hosted by Jennifer Zamparelli and Doireann Garrihy again this season. The two-time Dancing with the Stars winner and professional dancer Karen Byrne will join the judging panel in 2025 alongside longstanding judges Loraine Barry, Brian Redmond and Arthur Gourounlian.
