You’ve seen the headlines, now it’s time to go Behind the Story …

RTÉ News has today (Wednesday) launched a brand-new news podcast, Behind the Story, hosted by David McCullagh, Katie Hannon, and Fran McNulty. The podcast will take listeners deeper into the biggest stories of the day, looking at what’s happening and why, with insights and expert analysis.

Dropping three evenings each week, David, Katie and Fran will tease out key talking points, getting the inside track on stories, with engaging and thought-provoking analysis and insights.
As the world navigates unprecedented times, Behind the Story will offer factual, trusted analysis of the dominant news stories each week, from local, to national and international headlines.

Ahead of the first podcast, David McCullagh said: “I’m excited to be involved in this fresh way to look at the news, engaging audiences with topics that interest them, and giving added insight to what’s going on behind the story.”

Katie Hannon said: “I’m looking forward to getting back into the podcast studio with David and Fran to rake over the coals of the stories of the week and get the lowdown on what’s really happening from guests with the inside track.”

Fran McNulty said: “In an ever-changing media world, the podcast is a great opportunity to get into stories that interest people. For me, just getting into more detail, the why, the what could be, is interesting.

Behind the Story will allow us to expand on stories that interest people, talk about them and hear expertise and analysis which makes important stories more relatable to our audience”

The new podcast follows on from the popular Behind the Ballot ,the General Election 2024 podcast presented by David, Katie and Fran in the lead-up to and throughout General Election 2024.

Behind the Story is available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings, on RTÉ Radio Player or wherever you get your podcasts.
