RTÉ announces Camogie: Inside the Championship, a two-part documentary offering all access to the 2025 All-Ireland Championship
Begins Thursday November 6 on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player at 10:15pm
Camogie: Inside The Championship is a new two-part documentary series that takes viewers right to the heart of the Camogie world with the first episode airing on Thursday November 6 on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player. For the first time ever, cameras have been granted unprecedented access to the inner world of senior intercounty camogie, following the entire championship season from the very first puck of a sliotar in pre-season training to the fever pitch of the All-Ireland Final.
This is camogie as it has never been seen before with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to five of the game’s top counties Dublin, Galway, Kilkenny, Tipperary and Waterford. Camogie: Inside The Championship brings viewers inside dressing rooms, tactical team meetings and sideline huddles, capturing the passion, precision and pride that drive the sport. From pre-match speeches and heart-breaking injuries to the skorts debate and the soaring highs of victory, this series immerses viewers in every emotion of a championship season.
Paula Fahy, Group Resource and Commissions Manager, RTÉ Sport said:
“This series captures the intensity, skill and commitment of the players, showcasing the women driving Camogie forward and bringing viewers closer than ever to the game. RTÉ’s coverage of Camogie at club and county level continues later this year with live coverage of the All Ireland Club finals, and, in 2026 we look forward to delivering more live Camogie to Irish audiences on all our platforms.”
Speaking on the production Ross Whitaker, Director said:
“It was a huge privilege to be given behind the scenes access to this year’s Camogie Championship and I’m hugely thankful to the counties that took the risk and let us in. We wanted to take a sport that doesn’t get the credit it deserves and tell the stories of the amazing people and athletes behind it. Honestly, there was so much there to explore and our biggest difficulty was fitting it into just two episodes. I hope viewers enjoy it.”
Speaking on the docuseries Carol Hanlon, Producer, Kite Entertainment said:
“Of all the years to get a behind the scenes look at the Camogie Championship, the 2025 season was one for the ages! From upsets on and off the pitch, this series delivers a gripping insight into the reality of playing Camogie at a county level. From the gruelling training and personal sacrifices, we get to follow these elite teams as they put on their county jerseys in pursuit of a victory that only one of them will achieve. Given the thousands of kids and adults playing Camogie weekly, our hope is that these two episodes give the sport the much deserved visibility in a world where See It/Be It matters so much.”
With the support of the Camogie Association and the generous cooperation of players, managers and backroom teams, the series offers a rare and intimate insight into life inside the intercounty setup. Away from the pitch, it shines a light on the lives of these athletes, who balance full-time jobs, studies and family commitments with the demands of elite-level competition.
Rooted in their clubs and communities the series also introduces the coaches, families, and volunteers whose dedication makes the game possible.
