RTÉ Radio 1 continues to be Ireland’s most-popular radio station with over 1.3 million listeners every week and the first choice for 35-54 year olds.
New RTÉ Radio 1 schedule begins from Monday 10 November
RTÉ lyric fm increases its share to an all-time high of 3%
2FM increases its share to 10.4% among 15–34 year-olds
The latest JNLR results highlight the strength and appeal of RTÉ’s audio offering, with stations across the network continuing to engage and entertain listeners nationwide. From trusted news and current affairs to great music, sport and entertainment, RTÉ’s radio services remain a vital part of daily life in Ireland, reflecting the voices, stories and sounds that matter most to audiences.
- With a 29% market share, RTÉ’s radio services are the most-listened-to in Ireland for All Adults.
- RTÉ holds 18 of the top 20 programmes and the entire top 10.
- RTÉ lyric fm achieves its highest ever share of 3% with continued growth.
- RTÉ Radio 1 remains the first choice for adults aged 35–54 nationwide, with a share of 13.6%, and remains the only station with a weekly reach of over 1 million.
- RTÉ 2FM attracts 653,000 weekly listeners and increases its share to 10.4% among 15–34 year-olds
- RTÉ Raidío na Gaeltachta increased weekend listenership on Saturdays (+19,000) and Sundays (+16,000)
Speaking on the latest figures, Patricia Monahan, Director of Audio, RTÉ said: “Ireland’s biggest conversation is set to go from strength to strength as we prepare to launch a brand-new weekday daytime schedule on RTÉ Radio 1. Latest figures show that the station remains the first choice for adults aged 35–54 nationwide, with a share of 13.6%, and remains the only station with a weekly reach of over 1 million. The growth at weekends is phenomenal and demonstrates how integral radio is to the listening lives of the nation, RTÉ Radio 1 especially. RTÉ lyric fm is now reaching 336,000 listeners every week and is growing audiences across the schedule and has grown share to an all-time high of 3% – it’s a brilliant result, testament to the sustained efforts of the lyric team, efforts clearly endorsed by lyric’s growing audience. 2FM, meanwhile, has increased its share to 10.4% for 15-34s – as Ireland’s national public service media, serving this important younger audience is a critical part of RTÉ’s mission, one that 2FM continues to deliver on.”

Over on Weekends, Brendan O’Connor on Saturday has 419,000 listeners (+77,000 YoY), with 427,000 listeners tuning in on Sunday. (+88,000 YoY).
Playback on Saturday has 355,000 listeners. (+37,000 YoY).
The Business on Saturday mornings has 359,000 listeners. (+22,000 YoY).
Saturday with Colm Ó Mongáin has 228,000 listeners. (+4,000 YoY).
Saturday Sport/Doc On One from 2-6pm on RTÉ Radio 1 has 224,000 listeners.
Sunday Miscellany has 318,000 listeners. (+47,000 YoY).
Sunday with Miriam has 337,000 listeners. (+37,000 YoY).
This Week has 202,000 listeners on Sunday. (+14,000 YoY).
Sunday Sport has 210,000 listeners tuning in. (+6,000 YoY).
Arena has 47,000 listeners every weekday.
The John Creedon Show has 54,000 listeners on weeknights.
Starting off the mornings, Rising Time has 53,000 listeners on weekdays.

Laura Fox on 2FM has 125,000 listeners to her 9am-12pm show. (+3,000 BoB)
The Tracy Clifford Show has 111,000 listeners enjoying the best of Irish music and the home of RTÉ 2FM Rising. (+1,000 BoB)
2FM Drive with Doireann Garrihy entertains listeners across the country on their evening commute with 124,000 listeners.
Game On has 30,000 listeners tuning in on weeknights.
2FM Weekend Breakfast with Helen & Benny has 57,000 listeners on Saturdays and on Sunday 27,000 listeners.
Weekend on 2FM with Bláthnaid Treacy on Saturdays has 139,000 listeners and on Sundays 118,000.
2FM Weekend Afternoon with Demi & Mikey has 135,000 listeners on Saturdays (+8,000 BoB) and on Sundays they have 106,000 listeners.
2FM Weekend Drive with Emma & Graham has 109,000 listeners on Saturdays (+23,000 YoY) they have 84,000 listeners (+21,000 YoY).

“This survey covers just over 6 months of the new 2FM schedule, and the station has certainly stabilised following a period of change. We are very happy with how all our shows are progressing. Demi Isaac and Mikey O Reilly are filling in for Doireann over the next few months and that show has really hit the ground fast. The Laura Fox Show and Tracy Clifford Show has also seen good gains book on book.
Weekends remain strong and to make sure they remain strong, Katja Mia has come in for Bláthnaid Treacy while she is on leave, Katja sounds like she has been on air for years. Game On is moving from 2FM, with a news sports programme Inside Sport starting weekdays on RTÉ Radio 1, so Beta DaSilva’s new music show will start from next Wednesday at 6pm with a heavy focus on new and unsigned Irish music.”

Marty in the Morning has 73,000 listeners (+5,000 YoY) tuning in every weekday morning.
Niall Carroll’s Classical Daytime on weekdays has 46,000 listeners. (+4,000 BoB)
Aedín Gormley’s Movies and Musicals every Saturday afternoon has 71,000 listeners. (+17,000 YoY)
Sunday Afternoon with Simon Delaney has 60,000 listeners.
Weekend Classics with Claudia Boyle has 61,000 listeners on Saturdays (+18,000 YoY) and on Sundays the programme has 52,000 listeners. (+14,000 YoY)
Liz Nolan’s The Full Score/ Aedín in the Afternoon (Friday) have 54,000 listeners.
Lorcan Murray’s Classic Drive takes 70,000 listeners into the evening each weekday (+20,000 YoY).
The Mystery Train with John Kelly (Mon-Thurs)/ RTÉ lyric Live with Paul Herriott (Fri) has 36,000 listeners (+9,000 YoY).
The Hamilton Scores with George Hamilton have 54,000 listeners (+8,000 YoY) on Saturdays and 48,000 on Sundays.

Having been awarded the IMRO Music Station of the Year in October and now reaching a 3% share we can see that the diverse mix of music, arts and culture we feature in our schedule each day is reaching and connecting with new audiences.
This sense of connection is reflected in audience growth right throughout the day with the most listened to show Marty Whelan’s Marty in the Morning having 73,000 listeners, Lorcan Murray’s Classic Drive welcoming 20,000(YoY) new listeners now at 70,000 listeners and Aedín Gormley’s Movies and Musicals with 71,000 listeners, an increase of 17,000(YoY).
The gains continue on Weekend Classics with Claudia Boyle now at 61,000 listeners, George Hamilton’s The Hamilton Scores up 3,000 to 54,000 listeners on Saturday and in the evenings Paul Herriott’s Opera Night up 10,000 (YoY), The Lyric Feature increased by 16,000(YoY), The Full Score and Aedín in the Afternoon(Friday) sees an increase of 6,000 new listeners(YoY) and John Kelly’s Mystery Train and RTÉ lyric Live with Paul Herriott both up 9,000(YoY).”
