International Soccer takes centre stage on a jam-packed four days of live, free-to-air Sport across RTÉ
Tonight’s crucial Republic of Ireland World Cup qualifier v Portugal at the Aviva Stadium (RTÉ2, RTÉ Player & RTÉ Radio 1) kicks off a busy few days of sporting action across RTÉ.
On RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player Darragh Maloney will be joined from 7.00pm by Richie Sadlier and Shay Given for live coverage from the Aviva Stadium with commentary from Des Curran and Ronnie Whelan.
Meanwhile there will also be full coverage as part of an Inside Sport special on RTE Radio 1 from 6.00pm to 7.00pm with Ronnie Whelan, Keith Treacy and Pat Fenlon joining Marie Crowe at the Aviva. Coverage of the game begins at 7.30pm when Kenny Cunningham will be alongside John Kenny on commentary.
The show will also hear from former Leinster and Australia coach Michael Cheika ahead of Saturday’s November International between Ireland and Australia.
Tomorrow afternoon sees the Republic of Ireland take on Canada in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup Round of 32 from Qatar. Joanne Cantwell will have Ronan Finn and Alan Cawley alongside on RTÉ2 & RTÉ Player (3.00pm) for live coverage from Qatar. KO 3.15pm.
Later tomorrow (7.00pm, RTÉ2 & RTÉ Player), Joanne Cantwell will once again be joined by Ronan Finn and Alan Cawley for live coverage of England v Republic of Ireland in a UEFA U21 Qualifier from St Andrews @ Knighthead Park with kick-off at 7.45pm
On Saturday (5.00pm, RTÉ2 & RTÉ Player), Damian Lawlor presents live coverage on Saturday GAA Live alongside Davy Burke and Shane McEntee of Athy v Summerhill from Newbridge in the Leinster Club Football Championship quarter-final. Throw-in 5.15pm
Saturday evening from 7.00pm sees Jacqui Hurley joined by Bernard Jackman, Donal Lenihan, Jamie Heaslip and Stephen Ferris on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player for live coverage of Ireland v Australia from the Aviva Stadium. KO 8.10pm
The action on Sunday begins at 1.10pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player with live racing action from the Navan Winter Festival where Jane Mangan will be joined by Andrew McNamara and Barry Geraghty. Commentary from Richard Pugh with reporters Brian Gleeson and Katie Walsh.
At 1.30pm on Sunday (RTÉ2 & RTÉ Player) Joanne Cantwell will have Didi Hamann and Kevin Doyle in studio for live coverage of Ireland’s final European Qualifier for FIFA World Cup. Hungary v Republic of Ireland from the Puskás Aréna, Budapest kicks off at 2.00pm.
Across the weekend RTÉ Radio 1 will bring all the action to listeners on Saturday Sport and Sunday Sport.
Saturday Sport with Des Cahill and Joanne Cantwell will be on-air from 2:30pm to 6pm, and later on RTÉ Radio 1 Shane Dawson will be at the Aviva from 8pm for live international rugby with full coverage of Ireland’s November International against Australia with Marcus Horan on analysis and Shane Byrne joining Michael Corcoran on commentary.
