RTÉ.ie has reached one billion page views this year and is on track to finish 2025 2% ahead of last year. Average time spent on the site is up 3% on 2024, with visitors now spending eight minutes and 52 seconds per visit.
Neil Leyden says: “This growth is particularly noteworthy given that 2024 was an exceptionally busy editorial year, featuring both the Olympics and a General Election. The increase in engagement reflects a more diverse and curated homepage experience, showcasing content from across RTÉ, including Culture, Lifestyle, and Gaeilge, alongside the consistently popular Brainstorm section, which continues to deliver accessible academic insights for our audience. News, Sport & Entertainment remain as popular as ever.”
He continued: “We’ve also strengthened connections between RTÉ.ie and our TV and radio output, with additional content from current affairs, documentary, and lifestyle programming driving audiences to both linear and on-demand platforms. Furthermore, the newly launched Games section has been a standout success, offering a wide range of word puzzles, card games, and quizzes. Notably, Solitaire is averaging nearly 20 minutes dwell time per visit.
“A huge thank you to our editorial teams across News, Business, Sport, Entertainment, Culture, Lifestyle, Gaeilge, Kids, Archives, and Brainstorm, as well as our homepage team who curate the site 365 days a year, from 7am to 11pm. Your dedication throughout 2025 has delivered a broader, more engaged audience on RTÉ.ie—one that we hope continues to be informed, entertained, and educated by our offering.”
