RTÉ today released the full trailer for new comedy-drama These Sacred Vows, written and directed by award-winning Irish screenwriter John Butler. The series from RTÉ, in association with Banijay Rights and Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, stars Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Justine Mitchell and Jason O’Mara and will debut on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Sunday 1st February 2026.
The comedy-drama opens the morning after an Irish wedding on a Spanish island, when the body of a priest is found floating face-down in the swimming pool of the young guests’ villa. Over the course of six episodes, the action jumps back in time to revisit the key events of a wild previous week, each from the perspective of a different character.
Today’s trailer gives a flavour of the drama that will play out in Tenerife over the six part series with a stellar Irish cast including Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (Love/Hate, Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame) as Fr. Vincent, mother-of-the-bride Sandra played by Justine Mitchell (Derry Girls, Smother), Jason O’Mara (Agents of SHIELD, The Man In The High Castle) as father-of-the-bride Jerry and India Mullen (Normal People, Say Nothing) as wedding party guest Ava. The ensemble cast also includes Adam John Richardson (The Dry), Aaron Heffernan (Brassic), Mark O’Halloran (Adam & Paul, Garage) comedians Shane Daniel Byrne and Catherine Bohart and introducing Isolt Caffrey as Karen.
These Sacred Vows is produced by Rob Walpole and Rebecca O’Flanagan for Treasure Entertainment. Executive Producers are RTÉ’s Head of Drama David Crean and RTÉ’s Director of Acquisitions and Co-Productions Dermot Horan; Cathy Payne and Simon Cox for Banijay Rights and Kate McColgan for Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.
These Sacred Vows is one of nine drama productions for RTÉ filmed in 2025 creating 142 hours of high-quality, homegrown storytelling across screens in Ireland. These series are part of RTÉ’s commitment to great local drama.
