One of Gaelic football’s greatest ever players, a cornerstone of Dublin’s dominance, he will bring a wealth of experience and insight to the RTÉ panel. Over the course of his renowned career, he won 7 All-Irelands, 6 All-Stars, 4 National Leagues, 10 Leinster titles and was named GAA Football Player of the Year twice (2018, 2020).
He becomes the fifth Football Player of the Year to join RTÉ’s 2026 panel, alongside Peter Canavan (1995), Tomás Ó Sé (2004), Seán Cavanagh (2008) and Lee Keegan (2016). RTÉ’s coverage will also feature Hurling Player of the Year winners, Henry Shefflin (2002, 2006, 2012) and Joe Canning (2017) and All-Ireland winner, Hannah Tyrrell (2025).
Head of RTÉ Sport, Declan McBennett said: “We are thrilled that a player of Brian’s calibre will be bringing his experience, insight and drive to our coverage. I have no doubt he will excel in the same manner he did throughout his playing career.”
