Stay Informed: RTÉ Internship 2026 Programme

An bhfuil suim agat tuilleadh eolais a fháil faoin gClár Intéirneachta RTÉ do 2026?

Now in its fifth year, our award-winning RTÉ Internship Programme continues to champion inclusion and accessibility across Irish media. This six-month, paid opportunity reflects a cross-organisational commitment to nurturing emerging talent, giving young people real experience in journalism, production, and digital storytelling while developing the next generation of broadcasters.

in 2025, Interns worked across RTÉ: from Radio 1, News & Current Affairs, and Sport to Cláracha Gaeilge, Raidió na Gaeltachta, Nuacht RTÉ TG4, RTÉ Player, Social Media, Technology, Commercial, and The Lab.

Through hands-on training in content creation, research, editing, and pitching, participants build professional skills and industry connections. The programme is designed to help interns develop their careers and take the next step in the media industry.

Positions are available in both English and Irish. We’re looking for content creators, sports enthusiasts, and tech-savvy minds ready to contribute fresh perspectives to Irish broadcasting.

Building on this commitment to inclusion, in August 2025 RTÉ launched JumpStart, a programme designed to reach young people earlier in their career journey and open pathways into media for those who might not have seen themselves in the industry.

The pilot scheme welcomed 13 participants from across Dublin, nominated by youth workers, Travelling Community organisations, and refugee support groups.

Designed and delivered by RTÉ Diversity & Inclusion and RTÉ Learn, JumpStart is a powerful complement to the established internship programme; created to build skills and confidence in young people who may not have previously seen themselves represented in media.

Participants gained hands-on experience in filming and editing using their phones, research, storytelling, podcasting, and more. They also explored essential life skills including confidence building, CV writing, and interview preparation.

JumpStart is about sparking belief and helping young people recognise their potential, gain direction, and take their next steps toward a future in media.

Together, the Internship Programme and JumpStart form part of RTÉ’s broader mission: to make Irish media a place where every story, every voice, and every community can be seen and heard.
