RTÉ is again celebrating Pride and our official partnership with Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride with a comprehensive programme of content across RTÉ.ie, RTÉ 2FM, and RTÉ Player.
RTÉ’s programme of specially produced Pride-themed content includes:
ONLINE: A dedicated destination for all things RTÉ Pride at www.rte.ie/Pride
ON 2FM: A full week of music, interviews and entertainment across RTÉ 2FM including a live collaboration with Mother, Dublin (details below).
VIDEO SPOTLIGHT ON LGBTQI+ COMMUNITY GROUPS: Celebrating this year’s theme of Community, RTÉ 2FM’s Adam Hogan talks to leaders from LGBTQI+ community groups from all over Ireland, showcasing their work and the challenges they face.
QUEER HISTORY LESSONS: Online comedy talent and acting muinteor, Shane Daniel Byrne presents his six lessons on Queer History. Tune in to RTÉ Player, RTE.ie/Lifestyle and RTÉ’s social channels.
DUBLIN PRIDE VIRTUAL PARADE: RTÉ is working on a very special collaboration for this year’s Virtual Pride Parade with a range of young LGBT artists.
RTÉ PLAYER: A new specially commissioned RTÉ Player exclusive documentary, Kin of Kweens will be available alongside a series of popular documentaries – The Only Gay in the Village, The Panti Monologues, Converted and My Trans Life.
SUNDAY SERVICE: Our Sunday service on 27th June, RTÉ One (11.10am) & RTÉ Radio 1 Extra (11.00) will feature members of the Christian LGBTQI+ group Amach Le Dia, led by Teagan MacAodhagain, with music from Mark Griffin and Ryan Ashley.
news2day: Special news features on RTÉ news2day (RTÉ’s daily live TV news programme for children, weekdays at 4.20pm on RTÉ2) on how children are celebrating Pride month.
CAMPAIGN: A high-profile marketing communications campaign across radio, television, social and online from Saturday 12th June supporting Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride through to the Dublin Pride Virtual Parade (#virtualprideparade) on Saturday 26th June.
Pride on RTÉ 2FM: 2FM will celebrate Pride all week across the schedule with Pride-themed interviews, features and tunes, and a spotlight on the music of Irish and international LGBTQ+ artists across its schedule. Tune in to Tara Stewart (Weekdays 7 – 10pm) as she invites Irish LGBTQ+ artists, including Pillow Queens, Bobbi Arlo, Celaviedmai and Tim Chadwick, to curate their own playlists for the show.
Here’s what you can look forward on RTÉ 2FM on Saturday 26th June:
- 9-11am: Pride Breakfast with Louise McSharry
- 5-7pm: Getting the Pride Party Started with JJ Hartigan
- 7-9pm: Electric Disco Pride Special with Jenny Greene
- 9-11pm: Pride Anthems with Conor Behan
- 11pm-1am: Exclusive sets from the DJs at Mother
