-Young Dublin Mum wins Dacia Duster –
RTÉ 2FM, in association with Kearys Motor Group, has given a car away to one lucky listener in aid of Childline. The competition ran for over two weeks across all shows on RTÉ 2FM. The lucky winner from Clonskeagh, Dublin, was announced on Drive It with The 2 Johnnies when Ruth Groarke won a brand-new Dacia Duster. People from all over the country who entered the competition raised an impressive €47,000 for Childline to help children throughout Ireland.
2FM teamed up with Kearys Motor Group to raise much needed funds for Childline. By end of September Childline will have responded to 115,000 children all over Ireland. On average, Childline responds to 2,200 contacts a week or over 300 every day. Anxiety, depression and low mood are key areas that children speak to its counsellors about every day. This is a concern as mental health is a growing problem for children, with very little support available to them outside of Childline services. Which is one key reason why Childline is so important. Childline is open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. To contact Childline, phone 1800 666 666 or text 50101.
Caroline Downey President of Childline said “On behalf of Childline and all the children and young adults who use the Childline service we would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all at Kearys Motor Group, 2FM and to everyone who entered the competition for your support. Our moto is Never Give Up On A Child. Ever and with your support we will continue to do so by always being there for those who need Childline. With gratitude and love thank you once again.”
Head of RTÉ 2FM and Radio Strategy, Dan Healy, said “2FM have been a huge supporter Childline and the great work they do for a number of years, and we are delighted to be able to raise such a huge amount of money to support the children of Ireland in the run up to Christmas. A huge thank you to all of our listeners who entered the competition and donated their money to support such a worthy cause.”
