Fans of Hollywood greats Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren will be hooked with this new series. From tomorrow Tuesday July 1, all episodes from Season 1 of Yellowstone origin story 1923 will be available to stream from RTÉ Player.1923is a sequel to the compelling spin-off 1883, which focused on the Dutton family’s journey west in search of a new life in Montana. Now,1923 introduces a new generation of Duttons and a fascinating time in American history: Prohibition and the start of the Great Depression.
This story is the second of several prequels to the hugely popular and critically acclaimed series Yellowstone starring Kevin Costner.1923 stars Harrison Ford as Jacob Dutton and Helen Mirren as his wife Cara, who lead the Dutton family and the cowboys of Yellowstone ranch. Set in 1923, we see how the Depression devastated Montana long before the Wall Street Crash of 1929. The Dutton family struggles to cope with drought and economic downturn as Montana is hit hard.
Isabel May reprises her role as Elsa Dutton, lead protagonist and narrator from 1883. Viewers will also recognise Jerome Flynn (Bronn from Game of Thrones) playing Scottish sheep-herder Banner Creighton, who causes trouble for the Duttons. The cast also includes wealthy, shrewd businessman and villain Donald Whitfield played by Timothy Dalton of James Bond fame.
Directed by Ben Richardson and Guy Ferland, and created by Taylor Sheridan, the show has been warmly received by critics and audiences of the Yellowstone franchise.
