As one of the most high-profile positions in Irish media, the successful candidate will be an exceptional leader with proven editorial judgement, coupled with a passion for public service media storytelling and programme making.
RTÉ operates in a highly competitive global media market, where technology is rapidly transforming the way audiences demand and consume content. Whilst RTÉ’s public service mission remains constant, the way in which it delivers on this mandate must respond to advancements and changes within the global media industry. The successful appointee will play a leading role in continuing RTÉ’s journey of transformation in responding to ongoing change.
The Managing Director of News and Current Affairs will have a background in broadcasting nationally or internationally across multiple platforms. They will be skilled at collaborating with and influencing across a broad stakeholder base and enjoy developing and sustaining relationships. They will be people-focused and inspire their team, cultivating talent within and attracting talent to RTÉ.
