The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre is a national organisation offering a wide range of services to women and men who are affected by rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment or childhood sexual abuse. The services include a national 24-hour helpline, one to one counselling, court accompaniment, outreach services, training, awareness raising and lobbying.
Ruhama is a voluntary organisation, based in Dublin and works on a national level, with women affected by prostitution and other forms of commercial sexual exploitation.
Ruhama is Hebrew for ‘renewed life’.
The organisation is predominantly a frontline service and began its work in 1989, as an outreach service to women in street-based prostitution.
Over the years the service has evolved and adapted to meet the needs of women. Some of these changes reflect the changing nature of the Irish sex trade which has become more globalised, predominantly indoors and controlled by organised crime.
Ruhama’s services are extensive in breadth and have a unique model of work which is not replicated by any other agency in Ireland.
In 2014, Ruhama celebrated its 25th anniversary of providing services to women affected by prostitution. Our records show, we assisted over 2,500 women from over 60 countries during those 25 years.
Domestic and/or sexual violence is the threat or use of physical, emotional, psychological and sexual abuse in close adult relationships. This includes destruction of property, isolation from family and friends or other potential sources of support and threats to others including children. Stalking and control over access to money, personal items, food, transport and the telephone are also common examples of domestic abuse.
Such abuse affects people across our society – from all walks of life, from all cultural, social and ethnic backgrounds and across all age groups. The majority of victims are women, but a significant number of men are affected and abuse also occurs in same-sex relationships.
Domestic and/or sexual violence has severe and persistent effects on physical and mental health, and carries with it an enormous cost in terms of premature death and disability.
If you are experiencing domestic violence there is help available.

Sexual assault is any sexual act that you did not consent to, or are forced into against your will, including rape. Sexual assault is a crime, no matter who commits it or where it happens. It is often carried out by someone known to the victim. This could be a partner, former partner, relative, friend or colleague. You may have no physical injuries or obvious signs after the incident.
All SATU care is free and available by appointment to those in need 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The service provides prompt provision of medical and supportive care and collection of forensic evidence.

The HSE National Clinical Programme for Eating Disorders (NCP-ED) is a collaborative initiative between the HSE, the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland, and BodyWhys – the national support group for people with eating disorders. Eating disorders have the highest mortality and morbidity of all of the mental health conditions (Arcelus, 2011), and it is estimated that they will affect between 1 to 4% of the population at some point in their lives (NIMH, 2016). They are caused by a combination of genetic, biological and psychosocial factors and occur across gender, age, cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic groupings. Although not common eating disorders result in very high psychosocial and economic cost to individuals, families, healthcare and society when not treated or treated ineffectively (Butterfly Foundation 2012 and 2015).

AIMS Ireland is a consumer-led voluntary organisation that was formed in early 2007 by women, following their own experiences in the Irish maternity system. This year in 2018, we are celebrating 11 years supporting women in the Irish Maternity System. Our mission is to inform the public on models of care, birth practices and settings, which are supported by evidence-based research and international best practices, and to identify areas of excellence within the Irish Maternity System and to advocate for their extension. Our mission is also to speak on behalf of the service user experience in Ireland as to where evidence based practices are lacking, as to where care is unsafe and as to where new investment and services are needed. We also campaign for recognition of maternal autonomy and issues surrounding informed choice and informed refusal for women in all aspects of the maternity services.

Meningitis is an inflammation of the lining of the brain. It can be caused by several different organisms. Some are bacteria and some are viruses.
Bacterial Meningitis is uncommon but can be very serious and requires urgent medical attention and treatment with antibiotics. Viral Meningitis is less serious and cannot be helped by antibiotic treatment. The symptoms of viral and bacterial meningitis are similar so hospital tests may be needed to tell the difference.
If you are concerned you should seek medical advice immediately.
Septicaemia is a type of blood poisoning which is caused by the same bacteria that cause the most common form of bacterial meningitis. In septicaemia, the bacteria release toxins into the blood which break down the walls of the blood vessels allowing blood to leak our under the skin. This leaking causes a characteristic rash of purple bruises, blood spots and reduces the amount of blood reaching vital organs such as the liver and kidneys.

At RTÉ, we encourage our audience to exercise due caution regarding fake websites, social media advertisements, news articles and emails.
We are aware of misleading material circulating on social media which replicates RTÉ branding, features RTÉ newscasters and presenters, and purports to be official RTÉ content. In some cases, ‘deep fake’ technology can be used to portray reports by RTÉ presenters which never actually occurred.
This content will frequently advertise financial products, investments or cryptocurrency schemes and suggest that consumers of these products can expect to receive large amounts of money in a short period of time. Please note that RTÉ would never advertise such products in this manner and, while we make every effort to prevent material of this type appearing online, we cannot eliminate the fraudulent misuse of our branding and intellectual property. We are not responsible for third party content and strongly recommend that individuals avoid any engagement with these advertisements. If you have been the victim of cyber-crime, you can find further guidance on how to report this on the website of An Garda Síochána.
If you encounter a fake advertisement on social media which misuses RTÉ content, this can be reported directly to the relevant social media company or third party on their dedicated ‘report abuse’ webpages. If you would like to check if a third party website, email or video is legitimate, you can contact RTÉ at info@rte.ie. Please ensure that you include all available details regarding the content, particularly the web address or url which can be used to locate the content online.
RTÉ takes fraud seriously and we ask that our audience does the same. If you encounter suspicious content, please report it immediately.
